About Nicene Atlas
Mission
Nicene Atlas is an interactive educational platform that helps users understand the history, development, beliefs, councils, traditions, and major branches of Nicene Christianity. The goal is to teach Christianity chronologically and contextually.
How to use the atlas
- Start with the Timeline.
- Read about a Council or Father whose name you encountered.
- Move into the Traditions only after the historical context is clear.
- Use the Doctrine Explorer and Compare to study specific topics.
Editorial method
Nicene Atlas describes each tradition on its own terms, using its own self-understanding, vocabulary, and primary sources where possible. The site is exploratory and scholarly, not polemical.
